The GOP establishment keeps plotting against President Trump.
RINOs are eying the 2026 and 2028 elections.
And now Mike Pence has taken the knives out in this unspeakable revolt against Trump.
Mike Pence ran for President in 2024 as the Never Trump candidate and failed miserably, dropping out of the race with no support before a single vote was cast.
And yet Pence is still trying to set the stage for a Never Trump restoration in 2028 with his new book, “What Conservatives Believe,” which functions as a manifesto for the Mitt Romney-Liz Cheney-Paul Ryan pre-Trump Republican Party.
In an interview with CNN to promote the book, Pence attacked Trump as a traitor to the conservative movement, zeroing in on Trump’s America First tariffs that Trump enacted to rebalance unfair trade deals and bring jobs back to America.
“There’s concern in the heartland, particularly on the farm, for the impact of broad-based tariffs, the rising input costs for farmers and, I expect Republicans will take all of that to heart. And, I hope what they do, as I argue in my book, is return our party to the consistent advocacy of the conservative agenda. This defines the Republican movement for the last 50 years,” Pence began.
Pence described Trump’s America First agenda as a “threat” to conservatism because Trump supported ending unfair trade deals and rejected calls from warmongers like Ted Cruz, Mark Levin, and Ben Shapiro to launch an Iraq-style war with Iran.
“I wanted people to know around the country that a new threat to conservatism has emerged from within our movement. And it’s what I call the populist right. And essentially advances policies of protectionism, isolationism, marginalizing traditional values,” Pence added.
Pence admitted Trump’s successes on securing the border and cementing his 2017 tax cuts as permanent, but Pence bemoaned the tariffs as an attack on business, even though the stock market hit record highs, and Trump’s cutoff of the blank check for Ukraine.
“And, and while they’ve had some success prevailing on the second Trump administration, not all, I think the second Trump administration has gotten a lot right. Secured the border, extended all those Trump Pence, tax cuts, stood up to Iran, stood with Israel but when you look at when you look at the stops and starts on Ukraine, by this administration, when you look at, the, you know, voices on the outside that have even questioned our support for Israel and the economic policies, nationalization of businesses, broad based tariffs against friend and foe alike, price controls. I wanted to write a book that was about what conservatives believe in the hopes that in the midterms and in 2028, we return our party to those founding principles,” Trump concluded.
Pence is out with this book now because he’s betting Democrats will win control of Congress in November.
Once that happens, Pence will claim it was because Trump “betrayed” traditional conservatism and that if the Republican Party wants to win in 2028, it needs to ditch Trump and his agenda.
That is the establishment blueprint to seize back control of the Republican Party from Trump and his MAGA movement.
