The SAVE Act is the centerpiece of President Trump’s agenda to protect election integrity.
But the bill just got sabotaged by a surprising force.
And Trump just got bad news about the SAVE Act that hit him like a truck.
RINOs Block the SAVE Act
Republican senators attempted to attach the SAVE Act to a reconciliation bill that would have allowed them to bypass a Democratic filibuster and pass the legislation with a simple majority vote.
But four RINOs, Susan Collins of Maine, Thom Tillis of North Carolina, Mitch McConnell of Kentucky, and Lisa Murkowski of Alaska, provided the votes for Democrats to block this maneuver, effectively killing any chance to pass the SAVE Act in this Congress.
President Trump implored Republicans to pass the SAVE Act, declaring it would “guarantee” victory in the midterm elections since it would require proof of citizenship to register to vote, mandate voter ID in all 50 states, and ban mass mail-in voting except for legitimate absences.
Supporters of the SAVE Act expressed their anger over this RINO sabotage.
“I guess it’s frustration,” Missouri Senator Josh Hawley said in an interview with Fox News Digital. “Listen, we’ve been doing this in Missouri for years. I mean, voters in my state put it in our constitution.”
“Voter ID is the most popular thing out there,” Hawley added. “There’s a reason for that. People want their elections to be safe; they want them to be fair. And to me, you can’t explain to me why you wouldn’t vote for voter ID. I just don’t understand it.”
Voter ID is Popular
Hawley is correct. A recent Gallup poll found 84 percent of Americans support voter ID, but popular support wasn’t enough for the RINOs who hid behind a fig leaf of federalism to vote against the SAVE Act.
In the interview, Hawley explained that it was nonsense since the federal government makes election rules all the time.
“We make federal rules all the time for elections, you know,” Hawley continued. “I mean, all the time we do. And there’s nothing more basic than protecting the integrity of the ballot, and that’s what this is about.”
“37 states have voter ID already, including several blue states,” Hawley went on to say. “So I think this idea that this is like ‘this is weird, this is exotic, this is out there,’ no, it’s not. Like most of our states do it.”
Hawley predicted that the SAVE Act would eventually pass because public demand would become impossible to ignore.
“Sooner or later this is going to happen because I think the American people are going to demand it,” Hawley concluded.
Conservatives contend that Democrats oppose the SAVE Act because they want to cheat in elections.
But why do these four RINO Senators, conservatives were wondering, if they hate Donald Trump so much that they are willing to facilitate election fraud just because Trump wants to shut it down?
