RINOs Scheme to Sink Blanche Nomination for Attorney General
President Trump’s nomination of Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche for the permanent job shouldn’t have been controversial.
After all, the GOP-controlled Senate already confirmed Blanche to serve as Deputy Attorney General, meaning he was already vetted and given a clean bill of health.
But that vote took place when RINOs like Senator Thom Tillis (R-NC)and John Cornyn (R-TX) were running for re-election.
Since then, Tillis announced his retirement after Trump declared he would field a primary challenger to Tillis after Tillis opposed the Big Beautiful Bill.
A Trump-backed challenger ousted Cornyn after Cornyn said he supported an amnesty bill and wrote Joe Biden’s gun grab legislation.
Now that they are lame ducks, Cornyn and Tillis are free to act like the Never Trump RINOs they really are.
And that means the two are conspiring to tank Blanche’s nomination to get revenge on Trump by using the flimsy pretext of Blanche not putting in writing that he would kill a proposed $1.776 billion fund to provide financial compensation to Americans arrested by Joe Biden’s weaponized government as part of a settlement from the IRS to Trump for a contractor illegally leaking Trump’s tax returns.
Tillis and Cornyn threatened to tank Blanche’s nomination by voting against him in the Judiciary Committee if Trump didn’t publicly announce the victim’s compensation fund’s demise.
Trump Strikes Back
Trump called Tillis and Cornyn’s bluff by announcing that he would keep Blanche in the capacity of Acting Attorney General. Trump can do so because the Senate already confirmed him to another office, and that he would double down on supporting the victim of weaponized government funds by demanding Congress pass a bill authorizing its creation.
“If Senators Cornyn and Tillis, both upset because I wouldn’t Endorse them (they lost, and quit, respectively!), aren’t going to approve Todd Blanche, one of the most respected professionals, according to everybody, in the Country, to be the United States Attorney General, then I will keep Todd as Acting A.G., and push hard to get the Anti-Weaponization Bill, which takes care of those who have been so badly treated by the Crooked Joe Biden (and Obuma!) Administration (I get nothing, although I was treated horribly!), PASSED. Todd Blanche was a voice of reason! It will immediately be back on the table, and I will get it done,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.
Tillis whined that Trump was forcing Republicans to take a vote that would expose even more Never Trump RINOs in their midst.
“Despite comments as late as yesterday that the fund is dead, President Trump clearly intends to resurrect the payout pot for punks either by inappropriately establishing another bogus fund or pushing Congress to vote for a bill that the majority of Republicans in the Senate would be against,” Tillis wrote on X.
This episode proved that it’s RINOs in the Senate, and not just Democrats, who are really working to derail the Trump agenda.
