John Fetterman’s future in the Senate is in doubt.
The decision came to a head.
And Chuck Schumer just begged John Fetterman not to make one heartbreaking decision.
Schumer Says He Wants Fetterman to Remain a Democrat
John Fetterman’s constant presence on Fox News decrying his party’s opposition to Israel led to speculation in Washington that Fetterman was preparing to switch parties before he runs for re-election in 2028.
A Quinnipiac poll showing 77 percent of Pennsylvania Republicans approving of his job and 68 percent of Pennsylvania Democrats disapproving of him only ratcheted up the chatter that Fetterman was going to switch parties.
There is no chance Democrats can win a Senate majority if Fetterman ditches the Democrats for the Republicans.
That’s why Schumer publicly begged Fetterman to remain a Democrat when he spoke to reporters.
“Yes, and he is a very good member of Congress,” Schumer said when asked if he wanted Fetterman to remain a Democrat.
“People in our caucus very much like him and respect him and we’re a big-tent party. We can have a lot of different views in that party,” Schumer added.
Fetterman Says He Isn’t Joining the GOP
Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-SD), who continues to defy President Trump by refusing to pass the SAVE Act, did admit to reporters that he found time to meet with Fetterman about a party switch, although Thune hinted the discussions were fruitless.
“I have had conversations with him in the past as have many of my colleagues about the challenges he faces in his caucus. And there are many of us who, I think, would welcome the opportunity to have him join the Republican conference, but ultimately that’s a decision that’s up to him,” Thune stated.
Fetterman told MS NOW that he would leave the Democrat Party if it ever completely turned on Israel.
“If our party ever becomes — and just makes it official — the anti-Israel party, that’s when I would leave because that’s been a moral clarity for me,” Fetterman declared
“My long-term concern has been with the Democratic Party, as I am a member of that, is that our party is going to back away and turn their back to Israel,” Fetterman continued.
But Fetterman did say he would never join the GOP.
“I’m not going to be a Republican, and I would just remind anybody that I’ve been very clear on that,” Fetterman went on to say.
Fetterman explained he supported transgender surgeries for kids and other leftist causes, so he could never be a Republican.
““I don’t think that Republican Party wants a pro-choice, pro-gay, trans communities, federal union, and you look at my voting records… I disagree with my party on some issues like Israel, for example. But you know, I am a Democrat, and if someone is frustrated in the Democratic Party, I would be I would be frustrated with someone like Bernie Sanders,” Fetterman added.
If Fetterman ever did leave the Democrat Party, what he would likely do is become an independent who still caucused with the Democrats, rendering any change in party affiliation a mere allusion.
