And what the Wisconsin Senator told Fox News is the kind of charge that legacy outlets have been burying for months — and the American people deserve to hear it.
Fauci Pleads the Fifth While Johnson Demands Answers
The Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, chaired by Senator Rand Paul (R-KY), hauled Anthony Fauci in for a hearing on July 29, 2026, where the former National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases director repeatedly invoked the Fifth Amendment rather than answer questions about his pandemic-era conduct.
Fauci told the committee nearly 100 times, “On the advice of counsel, I respectfully decline to answer based upon my rights under the Fifth Amendment to the Constitution.”
Senator Bernie Moreno (R-OH) asked those in attendance to stand if they had lost their job or been harmed by COVID-19 policies, including vaccine requirements and school closures. Roughly 15 people stood, including Fox News anchor Laura Ingraham, who had attended the hearing.
Senator Johnson, watching Fauci stonewall the committee, told him directly: “I think it would be almost impossible for you to answer the questions truthfully without really demonstrating what you did.”
That night, Johnson sat down with Ingraham on her Fox News program and didn’t soften a word of what he’d been saying for months.
Speaking with Fox News’ Laura Ingraham after the hearing, Johnson said, “Not one news outlet has covered this as news,” and called his allegations “the greatest government scandal of my lifetime,” adding, “These injections cause death; they cause injury.”
He went on to call for “our federal health agencies to admit that the vaccine or the injection injuries are real so that they can be treated.”
What Johnson’s Senate Report Actually Found
This wasn’t a hot take delivered in the heat of the moment. Johnson has spent years building a documented case, and he released the receipts in April 2026.
On April 29, 2026, Johnson released an interim report titled *Unmasked: How Biden Health Officials Purposely Turned a Blind Eye Toward COVID-19 Vaccine Safety Signals*.
The report came with more than 600 pages of internal FDA emails, memos, and analyses obtained through subpoenas.
Johnson’s report details how in March 2021, Peter Marks — director of the FDA center that approves vaccines and is responsible for safety surveillance — was briefed that the algorithm being used to analyze the Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS) would mask or hide COVID-19 vaccine adverse event safety signals.
Twenty-six days later, using an updated algorithm, senior FDA officials were shown 25 safety signals, including sudden cardiac death, pulmonary infarction, cerebral artery occlusion, basal ganglia stroke, agonal rhythm, and Bell’s palsy.
Rather than adopt the more advanced detection method, Biden health officials continued to employ their older data mining method with known limitations that prevented the FDA from detecting adverse events.
According to the documents, FDA and CDC officials did not apply an “err on the side of caution” standard to alert the public. Instead, they insisted on definitive proof of causation — a standard they knew would never be met — and were far more concerned about not causing vaccine hesitancy than informing the public of adverse events.
Johnson’s report also detailed how nearly 40,000 people died after having received the COVID-19 vaccine and how federal health officials allegedly hid vaccine safety concerns from the public.
Johnson alleged that when safety signals emerged, officials “ordered the data analyst to ‘cease and desist’ and then lied to the American public that ‘they weren’t seeing safety signals.'” He called it “the biggest government scandal in my lifetime, and one that is crying out for full media attention and coverage.”
And the media? Not one news outlet covered it as news. Johnson was interviewed on programs like Ingraham’s, but no newspaper or major broadcast station covered his report as a news story.
The Stonewalling Ran Deeper Than Anyone Knew
Getting to those 600 pages wasn’t easy. Johnson’s subcommittee faced impenetrable stonewalling until Secretary Robert F Kennedy Jr’s commitment to radical transparency provided the panel with 11 million pages of documents.
That detail matters. The Make America Healthy Again movement has been pushing for exactly this kind of transparency since before Kennedy joined the Trump administration, and the documents Johnson obtained through Kennedy’s cooperation are now forming the evidentiary backbone of a formal Senate investigation. The bureaucracy didn’t hand those records over out of goodwill. It took a Senate subpoena and a new HHS secretary who wasn’t protecting the old regime.
Following his appearance on Fox News, Johnson doubled down, telling Fox Business Channel’s Maria Bartiromo that the vaccine push was “pre-planned” by a group of elites. “That occurred in late 2019 prior to the rest of us knowing about this pandemic — what continues to be planned for our loss of freedom,” Johnson said.
That’s a serious charge. And it’s one that deserves serious scrutiny from reporters who aren’t still running interference for the people who ran the pandemic response.
Republican senators vowed to vote on holding Fauci in contempt of Congress after he declined to answer a barrage of questions at the hearing.
Think about what that means. The man who ran the country’s pandemic response for years, who enjoyed near-universal media protection for two-plus years, who sat across from senators and lectured them about science — that man just pleaded the Fifth more than 100 times rather than answer questions under oath. And the press corps that spent years treating his every pronouncement as gospel has largely moved on.
Johnson hasn’t moved on. He’s been at this for years, holding hearings, issuing subpoenas, and publishing reports that lay out in documented detail what he believes happened inside the FDA and CDC during the vaccine rollout. His critics call it a crusade. But the documents he’s obtained through formal Senate process aren’t opinion. They’re internal FDA records showing that officials knew the safety monitoring system had serious limitations and chose not to fix it.
The VAERS data, the safety signals, the cease-and-desist order to the data analyst — none of that has been seriously disputed. What the legacy media has done instead is ignore it. Johnson put it plainly on Ingraham’s program: not one major outlet covered his report as news. A senator releases a 600-page documented account of alleged federal misconduct tied to one of the largest mass vaccination programs in American history, and the networks that spent three years telling viewers to trust the science couldn’t find the column inches.
The Make America Healthy Again movement exists precisely because of this pattern. Americans who raised questions about vaccine mandates, about myocarditis signals in young men, about the suppression of early treatment options, were told for years that they were dangerous, irresponsible, and spreading misinformation. Some lost jobs. Some lost friendships. Some got banned from social media platforms. And now a sitting US Senator is releasing subpoenaed FDA records suggesting those concerns had a documented basis — and the silence from the press is deafening.
Fauci’s Fifth Amendment marathon in front of the Senate doesn’t prove guilt. But it does raise a question that nobody in the establishment press seems particularly interested in asking: if everything was done by the book, why won’t he say so under oath?
