Illegal border crossings set record under Joe Biden

Democrats were already worried about Joe Biden’s chances of winning a second term.

That ship may have sailed.

And Joe Biden just set one record that will doom him to defeat in 2024.

Customs and Border Protection released figures showing that November was a new monthly high for illegal border crossings at the U.S.–Mexico border.

There were 242,418 recorded encounters last month according to CBP numbers. It was the highest November ever recorded and the third highest monthly total overall.

“CBP continues to execute its important mission to protect the American people, safeguard our borders, and enhance the nation’s economic prosperity by implementing operational plans, surging personnel and decompressing areas along the southwest border while processing and vetting migrants who are encountered humanely, safely, and efficiently, consistent with our laws,” said senior official performing the duties of Commissioner, Troy Miller.

“We are facing a serious challenge along the southwest border and CBP and our federal partners need more resources from Congress — as outlined in the supplemental budget request — to enhance border security and America’s national security,” Miller added.

“CBP’s message for anyone who is thinking of attempting to circumvent lawful pathways to enter the United States is simple: don’t do it,” the agency said.

House Homeland Committee Chairman Mark Green (R-TN) slammed the Biden administration over the numbers, highlighting the timing of their release.

“By strategically holding the release of these numbers until the Friday before Christmas, Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas is unabashedly showing the full measure of his duplicity. These numbers are so bad, he wants as few Americans to see them as possible. And December’s numbers, which will be released in January, are anticipated to be even more grim,” Green said.

Green noted that the House Homeland Committee would be starting impeachment proceedings against Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas in the next few months.

Even some Democrats are admitting the border is a serious problem.

Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV) said in an interview earlier this month on CNN’s “State of the Union” that the border “must be shut down.”

“They understand that the border is broken, that glass ceiling has been broken,” Manchin said. “And we have got to stop this dangerous immigration that we have coming to our country from all over the world…things that we have never seen, numbers that we have never seen like this.”

“The whole world is in a flux, and they’re taking advantage of a system that truly is broken,” he continued.

“And this is not immigration reform. They’re basically working diligently on just securing the border. It must be done. It must be shut down.”
