Joe Biden never expected to find himself in this position.
Biden thought he would coast through the re-election and vanquish Donald Trump once-and-for-all.
But Joe Biden was left a bumbling mess over this shocking 2024 poll.
Donald Trump has an astounding 10-point lead over President Biden in a recent Washington Post-ABC News poll.
The poll found Trump leading Biden 52% to 42% in a hypothetical general election matchup, according to the Post.
“Heads are EXPLODING at the Jeff Bezos Amazon Washington Post, as President Trump now leads Biden nationally by 10,” senior Trump adviser Jason Miller said on X.
Democrats are trying to explain the poll away.
And even the Washington Post casted doubt on their own poll.
“The Post-ABC poll shows Biden trailing Trump by 10 percentage points at this early stage in the election cycle, although the sizable margin of Trump’s lead in this survey is significantly at odds with other public polls that show the general election contest a virtual dead heat,” the Post wrote.
“The difference between this poll and others, as well as the unusual makeup of Trump’s and Biden’s coalitions in this survey, suggest it is probably an outlier.”
Host Martha Raddatz said about the poll results on Sunday’s ABC This Week: “Whatever caveats, whether that is an outlier, that’s a tough one to spin.”
Former Democratic National Committee chairwoman Donna Brazile agreed saying: “It’s a tough one to spin, Martha, but I don’t believe Democrats should be sitting in a panic room.”
However, Brazile did say that Democrats need to “get out there, make your case to the American people,” whom she admitted were angry due to the ever-rising living costs under Biden.
“Income estimates are expressed in real or 2022 dollars to reflect changes in the cost of living. Between 2021 and 2022, inflation rose 7.8%; this is the largest annual increase in the cost-of-living adjustment since 1981,” the Census Bureau said in a press release.
Still, Biden claims the economy is improving.
“‘Bidenomics’ is a blue-collar blueprint for America. It’s for you,” Biden said in a Labor Day speech earlier in the month.
“As I said a thousand times, there is no quit in America. None. All I hear from my friends on the other side, what they say is wrong with America. They keep telling us America is failing. They’re wrong. I’ve got news for them. America has the strongest economy in the world right now, today.”
