Donald Trump just got betrayed by one Fox News host in one stunning act

President Trump ran on ending the bloodbath in Ukraine and hasn’t budged an inch.

The usual war cheerleaders hate it. But nobody expected the latest shot to come from inside the Fox News family.

And the man who fired it has a track record Trump voters deserve to see.

Mark Levin Picks Zelensky Over Trump’s Peace Push

Fox News host Mark Levin made it plain that he wants no part of President Trump’s call for Ukraine to find a new leader.

Levin went to X and shared a Fox Business clip featuring Rebeccah Heinrichs of the Hudson Institute, a Washington think tank whose scholars have pushed a hard line against Moscow for years. Then Levin piled on with his own message.

“When will Putin have real elections? He’s been running Russia a lot longer than Zelensky has been president of Ukraine. The same can be said about the Arab countries and more,” Levin wrote.

Heinrichs told Fox Business that she sat down with Zelensky’s political rivals on a trip to Ukraine, and that even those rivals oppose holding any vote before a full ceasefire.

“So the evidence just doesn’t support what we just heard from President Trump, unfortunately,” Heinrichs said.

Trump sees it differently. He has watched Zelensky drag his feet on one peace offer after another, and he finally said out loud what plenty of Americans have been thinking.

“I think it’s time for Ukraine to get a new president,” Trump said.

Trump also laid out the human cost of the stalemate. He said Ukraine has already lost 30% of its country, and he put the death toll on both sides at more than 2 million people.

“That’s a war that should have never started,” Trump said.

The Election Nobody in Kyiv Wants to Hold

Here’s the piece of the puzzle Levin left out.

Zelensky’s five-year term ran out in May 2024. Ukraine has stayed under martial law since the Russian invasion in 2022, and Ukrainian law bars elections as long as martial law remains in place.

So Zelensky keeps the job with no vote and no end date in sight. Trump’s question is a simple one. Does the man in that chair actually want a deal, or does he want American taxpayers to keep footing the bill indefinitely?

But Levin answered by pointing at Putin. Nobody in the America First movement mistakes Russia for a free country. Changing the subject to the Kremlin just dodges the question Trump asked.

Trump has been working another angle, too. Mediaite reported that Trump lifted sanctions so Russian diesel could flow into the United States, a move aimed at bringing fuel prices down before the midterms. Folks filling up a pickup in Alabama or Ohio probably won’t lose sleep over that one.

And Heinrichs had a suggestion of her own. She said the US could import more diesel from allies, and she pointed to Canadian Prime Minister Carney’s willingness to export more oil.

Levin’s Never Trump Roots Run Back to 2016

Longtime listeners may remember that Levin has broken with Trump before. Plenty of times, actually.

During the 2016 primary, Levin backed Ted Cruz and planted his flag in the Never Trump camp. In April of that year, he said he would not support Trump in the general election.

Even after Trump piled up enough delegates to clinch the nomination, Levin still wasn’t buying. “Donald Trump is not a conservative,” he told his radio audience.

He came around only after the nomination was locked up, saying in September 2016 that he would end up voting for Trump after all.

Then came February 2025. Trump went after Zelensky over the missing Ukrainian elections, and Levin rushed to the Ukrainian leader’s defense on his radio show. “MAGA doesn’t support Putin,” Levin declared.

Funny how Levin always seems to find his way to Zelensky’s side of the table whenever Trump tries to close a deal.

Levin’s Iran Crusade Tells the Real Story

Ukraine is only half the picture. Levin has spent years using his radio show and his Fox News perch to push the interventionist line, and Iran has always topped his list.

In June 2025, while Trump gave diplomacy a two-week window, Levin went after the President’s own negotiating team on X.

“Is Witkoff negotiating for something less? What’s JD’s role?” Levin wrote.

That was a direct jab at Vice President JD Vance, the leading voice for restraint inside the administration and the man who has consistently warned against dragging America into another forever war.

Tucker Carlson publicly accused Levin of showing up at the White House to lobby for war with Iran. Carlson also pointed out that Levin had no plans to fight in that war or any other.

Trump eventually hit Iran’s nuclear sites. But the moment the talk turned back to a negotiated settlement, Levin went right back on offense. Iran International reported that in June 2026, Levin attacked a reported US-Iran memorandum of understanding and warned it could embolden Iranian-backed proxies like Hezbollah.

Trump Voters Already Picked Peace Over Forever Wars

Put the pieces side by side and the picture gets hard to miss.

Whenever Trump reaches for a deal, whether with Tehran or Moscow, Levin finds a reason to object. The country changes. The objection doesn’t.

Maybe Levin simply admires Zelensky. Maybe he really does think the Ukrainian election question is a distraction. Fair enough, people disagree. But it’s hard to ignore that the same voice that demanded “unconditional” results in Iran now wants Trump to stop leaning on Kyiv to cut a deal.

The neoconservative crowd has wanted a showdown with Russia for well over a decade. They cheered as the Biden administration sent wave after wave of aid packages out the door with little in the way of conditions. They pushed for longer-range missiles and deeper American involvement, and they shrugged off every warning about a nuclear-armed adversary.

Trump promised voters something different in 2024. He promised to end the war, not manage it forever on the American taxpayer’s dime.

And the old guard has never forgiven him for winning on that message.

Expect the pressure to build from here. If Trump keeps pushing Zelensky toward the table, the same voices will demand fresh weapons shipments, scream about sanctions relief, and brand every ceasefire proposal as a sellout. They already tried that playbook on Iran.

But the voters who sent Trump back to Washington already made their choice. They picked peace through strength over another generation of open-ended war, no matter which cable host disagrees.
