President Trump wasn’t prepared for what was about to happen.
It represented the biggest betrayal of his political career.
And some bad news from this RINO sellout hit Trump like a ton of bricks.
Donald Trump seized control of the Republican Party in 2016 because the conservative base grew fed up with the establishment continually scheming to muscle amnesty for illegal aliens through Congress.
First under President George Bush in 2007 and then under Barack Obama in 2013, establishment Republicans plotted to grant amnesty and voting rights to tens of millions of illegal aliens.
Conservatives figured that President Trump winning two terms by riding a backlash to open borders settled this debate.
That turned out not to be the case.
Swamp RINOs seized on fake news media polls following the unrest in Minneapolis to argue that the best gesture President Trump could offer the left to show he was “de-escalating” was supporting an amnesty bill, the so-called “Dignity Act”.
RINO Congressman Mike Lawler made the case on ABC’s This Week that President Trump sealing the southern border represented mission accomplished on the immigration issue.
“Look, this is an issue that I’ve been focused on for years. You know, for 40 years, we have not solved our immigration crisis. The American people were rightly outraged by what happened under the Biden administration, where you had over 10.5 million migrants cross our border, most of them illegally,” Lawler began.
“You know, the porous Southern border needed to be shut down. President Trump did that. The fact is, we have had nine straight months of net-zero illegal border crossings. You’ve had 675,000 people deported, 1.9 million people Self-deport.” Lawler added.
Lawler then claimed illegal aliens who managed to evade capture for a decade or more should stay in America even though they were criminals by virtue of illegally entering the United States.
“Many of those folks are criminal aliens or people who have been involved in the criminal justice system. The American people overwhelmingly support that. But what they do believe, if you’ve been in this country, right or wrong, for 5, 10, 15, 20 years, your children and your grandchildren are American citizens,” Lawler continued.
Even though polls continually show a majority of Americans support deporting all illegal aliens, Lawler falsely claimed Americans oppose mass deportations.
Lawler then contended the solution was the so-called “Dignity Act,” which would provide amnesty for tens of millions of illegal aliens so they could “come out of the shadows.”
“People don’t want to see families broken apart. And so there’s got to be a legal path forward, not a path to citizenship, but a legal path forward for people to come out of the shadows so that they can work legally, that they can pay their taxes, pay any back taxes owed, pay a fine, not collect government benefits, and not commit a crime,” Lawler declared.
Lawler then baselessly claimed mass deportations were impractical, even though that’s what President Trump campaigned on and what the American people voted for.
“That is the basis of the Dignity Act, so that we can actually start to solve a crisis that has been, in effect, for 40 years. We have over 25 million people in this country who are undocumented. You’re not rounding them all up and kicking them out. It’s not realistic,” Lawler concluded.
Lawler and other amnesty supporters contend the so-called “Dignity Act” is a one-time amnesty.
That’s what open borders champions claimed about the 1986 amnesty.
But history shows that amnesty only serves to create a magnet that attracts tens of millions of new illegal aliens to American knowing that once the illegal alien population again reaches critical mass, pro-open borders forces in Congress will impose a new amnesty bill.
