Ilhan Omar’s Raid Fallout Spiraled After Her Own Sister Sat Down With the Feds

Federal agents reportedly hauled a phone, a passport, and a computer out of Ilhan Omar’s home.

Her lawyers want the stuff back. Her husband walks the dog and says next to nothing.

But the next person to talk with investigators shares Omar’s own family tree.

The Sister Who Walked Into the Feds’ Office on Her Own

Congresswoman Ilhan Omar (D-MN) hasn’t made a single public appearance since federal agents showed up at her Washington, DC door.

Her older sister has kept busier. And not in the way her book publicist probably planned.

Sahra Noor talked with federal investigators last week, according to three sources familiar with the investigation who spoke to Fox News Digital. The sources said Noor went in voluntarily. Nobody outside that room knows yet how much ground the conversation covered.

Noor’s story runs right alongside her sister’s. Both came to the United States as children, fleeing the civil war that tore Somalia apart. Noor now lists Kenya as home on her LinkedIn page, but she flew back to America to sell a brand-new memoir, Salt in the Snow: A Somali Immigrant Story.

But then the tour hit a pothole in Minnesota.

Noor had a scheduled event at the University of Minnesota Rochester, with Garden Party Books, the university, and the Rochester Public Library all lending their support. She canceled. A Garden Party Books representative told Fox News Digital the reason was a “family emergency.”

Fox News Digital now reports that during that same stretch, Noor sat across a table from federal investigators. Readers can decide for themselves what kind of emergency that turned out to be.

Phones, Passports, and a Pile of Subpoenas

Homeland Security Investigations, the lead investigative agency inside the Department of Homeland Security, executed a search warrant around 6 am on October 12 at the home Omar shares with her husband, Tim Mynett. Sources told Fox News Digital the warrant tied into an immigration fraud probe.

The core question fits on an index card. Investigators want to know whether Omar or her late father fed false information into the paperwork that made her an American citizen.

Agents left with Omar’s personal phone, her passport, and her computer, the Wall Street Journal reported. Her lawyers answered by demanding the Justice Department hand back some of that property.

And according to the New York Times, investigators have subpoenaed about a dozen people, including members of Omar’s family. A dozen subpoenas suggests investigators want the entire family history laid out, start to finish.

Border czar Tom Homan put a word to the stakes. If investigators prove the allegations, Homan said, Omar could face denaturalization.

Homan walked through how that works back in September on Fox News’ The Sunday Briefing. “We have denaturalized citizens based on fraud, based on lying on their applications, or misrepresenting themselves during the process, or misrepresenting the organizations they belong to, or the beliefs they have,” Homan told host Jacqui Heinrich.

Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin went further than Homan ever did. Mullin claimed Omar “married her brother to try to bring him into the United States.” Omar has called that allegation “absurd and offensive,” and no court has ruled on it.

Omar Discovers the Word “Weaponization” Four Years Too Late

Omar hasn’t sat for a single interview. But she did fire off a statement on X a few hours after the agents arrived.

“This raid by Trump’s DHS is an outrageous abuse of power and an unprecedented escalation in the weaponization of federal law enforcement to target political enemies,” Omar wrote. Later in the same post, she added, “The Congresswoman has done nothing wrong.”

Unprecedented. That’s a bold word from a party that spent August 2022 defending the FBI’s raid on Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago home. Back then, Democrats called a search of a political opponent’s residence the rule of law in action, and few of them lost any sleep over it.

But the rules apparently change when the boxes come out of a Democrat’s house.

Vice President JD Vance took on the political-motive charge directly in an interview with Fox News Digital. “We don’t want to be like the Biden administration,” Vance said. He followed up with, “We really want to let the law, the facts drive this.”

President Trump said the raid came from the Justice Department, not from him. “I’ve always found her to be totally crooked personally, but that has nothing to do with me,” Trump said.

That’s about as Trump as a denial gets. He gets his shot in and still leaves the case to the lawyers.

Why a Citizenship Oath Still Means Something

And here’s what gets lost in all the shouting. Naturalization isn’t a participation trophy. Every new citizen raises a right hand and swears that what they put on paper is true.

Millions of legal immigrants did exactly that, honestly, and waited their turn in line. And if anyone gamed that system, the people who played it straight are the ones who got cheated.

Homan made the point that denaturalization isn’t some exotic new weapon cooked up for one Congresswoman. “We’ve done it before many times over the last 40 years that I’ve been around,” he said.

But a sitting Member of Congress facing that process would be something Washington has never seen. That’s exactly why investigators need airtight evidence, and why Omar deserves her day in court like anybody else.

Vance didn’t mince words back in May, though. “We think Ilhan Omar definitely committed immigration fraud against the United States of America,” he said at the time. Omar’s office pushed back hard, and no one has publicly presented evidence of fraud so far.

Expect Democrats to reach for the old script anyway. Somebody will claim Omar faces scrutiny only because of where she was born or how she worships. That excuse dodges the only question that matters here, which is whether the forms tell the truth.

And the Noor angle makes that question harder to wave away. Whatever Noor told investigators now sits in a federal file, right next to everything agents carried out of her sister’s house.

Mynett defended his wife’s immigration timeline to reporters outside their home. Omar herself? Still silent.

Sahra Noor wrote an entire book about how her family got to America. Federal investigators now have their own chance to compare notes.
