Jeanine Pirro Went After the One Thing Ilhan Omar’s Tearful Plea Never Mentioned

Most politicians save the waterworks for the concession speech.

Ilhan Omar couldn’t wait that long. She hopped in a car, hit record, and started talking.

But what she asked for at the end lands just as one federal prosecutor starts digging through her money.

A Back Seat, a Shaky Voice, and a Tip Jar

US Representative Ilhan Omar (D-MN) broke her silence late one night with a TikTok clip that runs about a minute long.

She filmed it from the back seat of a car. Her eyes looked wet. Her voice wobbled in spots.

And the Minnesota Democrat spent that minute pinning the whole mess on President Donald Trump, accusing him of trying to “intimidate” her and plenty of other people ahead of the elections.

“We know that they’re running scared, we’re not going to be intimidated, we’re not going to be silenced, we’re not going to be scared,” Omar said.

She promised her fans she’d be back on the trail soon.

“I’ll be out there campaigning alongside all of you and making sure that we beat back all of this and that we win in the midterms,” she said.

Then came the ask.

“It is going to be a very expensive and challenging time and so we appreciate whether you’re able to send $5, $10, $20,” Omar told viewers before signing off with a quick thank-you.

Anybody who has watched Washington long enough knows a crying politician holding out a donation link rarely signals good news for the politician.

Two Federal Probes the Video Skipped Right Past

The clip capped a brutal stretch for the congresswoman. Homeland Security Investigations agents executed a judge-approved search warrant at Omar’s Washington, DC, home in October, and the Justice Department confirmed the search tied to an ongoing federal criminal investigation.

Sources told Fox News and the New York Post that the probe centers on immigration paperwork Omar’s late father filled out when she was a child. Breitbart News reported that federal investigators hope DNA evidence can settle questions about her family history. Omar has denied the long-running rumors about her ex-husband and her family, and nobody has charged her with a crime.

But the immigration case turned out to be only half the story.

The day after the search, US Attorney for the District of Columbia Jeanine Pirro went on Fox News’ America Reports and confirmed her office has a second investigation running. This one follows the money.

When anchor John Roberts raised the old questions about Omar’s net worth, Pirro didn’t dance around it. “That is subject of an investigation as well,” she said.

She also stood behind the search itself. “That judge would not have signed that warrant unless there was probable cause,” Pirro said.

The financial questions trace back to Omar’s own disclosure forms. Fox News reported that the filings showed businesses tied to her husband, Tim Mynett, jumping from a combined high of roughly $51,000 in 2023 to as much as $30 million in 2024. Those forms use wide dollar ranges, so nobody can nail down an exact figure from them alone. Still, a swing like that tends to catch a prosecutor’s eye.

The House’s own watchdog, the Office of Congressional Conduct, recommended in September that the House Ethics Committee dismiss allegations that Omar filed false or incomplete financial information, the Wall Street Journal reported. Pirro brushed that off. “It doesn’t matter what the House does,” she said.

The Five-Dollar Ask Says More Than the Tears

Here’s the part that ought to stop people cold.

A congresswoman whose household disclosures listed business holdings that could reach eight figures went on social media and asked working folks for a five-dollar bill.

Maybe an innocent explanation exists for that disclosure. Financial forms are clunky, and the ranges swing wide. Fair enough. But Omar didn’t offer one in her video. She offered tears and a tip jar.

And her claim that Trump dreamed all this up runs into a timeline problem her allies would rather skip. The New York Times reported that the US attorney’s office in Washington, DC, opened an inquiry into Omar’s finances back in June 2024. Joe Biden sat in the Oval Office. Merrick Garland ran the Justice Department.

Trump, for his part, told reporters he had nothing to do with the search and that the matter belonged to the Justice Department.

None of that slowed Omar down. She blasted the search on X as “an attempt to target political enemies and weaponize federal law enforcement.”

That line has a familiar ring. Democrats spent years lecturing Americans that nobody stands above the law while Joe Biden’s Justice Department dragged Donald Trump from one courtroom to the next. Now an investigation lands on one of their own, and suddenly “weaponize” is everybody’s favorite word again.

Omar has waved off scrutiny of her money before. “They have been doing this sort of weird ethics investigation. Nothing has yielded anything because I have been as transparent as I can be,” she said earlier this year, according to the Daily Wire.

But “as transparent as I can be” is a funny standard for somebody whose disclosure numbers jumped by that much in one year.

The Squad Fundraising Machine Hits a Wall

Omar has always known how to turn a bad headline into a payday. Back in 2019, after a string of fights with Trump, her campaign said it pulled in more than $1.1 million in a single quarter, almost all of it in small online donations, CBS News reported.

The playbook hasn’t changed much. Pick a villain. Cue the emotion. Post the link.

And it might work again, at least with her base. Plenty of Democrat donors will happily chip in ten bucks to feel like they’re fighting Trump.

But a fundraising pitch can’t answer a prosecutor’s questions. Pirro made that plain on Fox News. “Based upon the facts, we’ll follow them wherever they take us,” she said.

Investigators already convinced a federal judge to sign off on a search warrant weeks before a national election. That’s no small hurdle, and judges in Washington, DC, don’t exactly have a reputation for doing Republicans any favors.

Expect the next phase to look a lot like this one. More videos. More talk of persecution. More requests for cash from people who earn a fraction of what her household reported.

Omar may well have good answers. Nobody has charged her, and she deserves the same presumption of innocence as anyone else.

But a congresswoman confident in her paperwork could always post the paperwork. So far, she has posted a car-ride video and a donation link.
