Securing the midterm election is one of President Trump’s top priorities.
Trump was grinning from ear to ear about the latest news.
And the Supreme Court just handed Trump this massive election integrity win.
The Supreme Court Sides with Trump on Mail-In Voting Case
The Supreme Court handed down a 6-3 ruling lifting a lower court order blocking President Trump’s mail-ballot executive order before the November election.
In the ruling, the justices rejected the lawsuit on the basis of standing, saying the 23 states that filed suit weren’t actually harmed by Trump’s order imposing new security standards for mail-in ballots because the order only issued directives to federal agencies.
“[It] directs the Secretary of Homeland Security to take appropriate action to create and distribute State Citizenship Lists. This provision is an internal directive from the President to a subordinate. It imposes no obligations on the States, so they ‘suffer no concrete harm from’ it, and without concrete harm, there is no standing,” the order read.
The court noted, however, that this wasn’t a ruling on the merits of the order itself and that litigation on that front will continue.
But for now, Trump’s order can proceed.
What the Executive Order Says
Trump signed an executive order in March to create standards and safeguards to prevent fraud in mail-in voting.
The first component of the order was Homeland Security creating a roster of all eligible voters and sending it to the states to ensure that only lawful recipients received a mail-in ballot.
Trump’s order directs “the Secretary of Homeland Security, through the Director of United States Citizenship and Immigration Services and in coordination with the Commissioner of SSA, shall take appropriate action to compile and transmit to the chief election official of each State a list of individuals confirmed to be United States citizens who will be above the age of 18 at the time of an upcoming Federal election and who maintain a residence in the subject State (State Citizenship List).”
The order also instructed the United States Postal Service to create guidelines for mail-in ballots to prevent fraud, such as specially marked envelopes and unique barcodes.
“To ensure the faithful execution of Federal law, protect the integrity of the mail as a medium for transmitting Federal election ballots and establish uniform standards for mail-in or absentee ballot services implemented through the United States Postal Service (USPS), the Postmaster General is hereby directed to initiate a proposed rulemaking pursuant to 39 U.S.C. 401 and other applicable authority within 60 days of the date of this order,” the order added.
Democrats will now race back to a handpicked, rogue leftist judge to try and block Trump’s election integrity order on the merits.
Trump and many of his supporters keep asking why else, other than the intention to cheat, do Democrats oppose measures to ensure only American citizens cast lawful ballots in elections.
