Trump Slams Pirro for Dropping Vandalism Charges in Reflecting Pool Case
Assistant US Attorney for Washington, D.C., Jeanine Pirro dropped vandalism charges against former Olympian David Hearn for causing damage to the Reflecting Pool on the National Mall.
In a court filing dismissing the charges, Pirro’s office wrote that the Interior Department withheld evidence showing the damage to the pool was caused by a botched renovation.
The filing claimed her office “was not in possession of any information from D.O.I. indicating that any damage to the Reflecting Pool was caused by anything other than the actions of the defendant and other vandals who damaged the pool’s lining.”
This outraged President Trump, who posted a video to Truth Social that he said showed vandals causing the damage to the Reflecting Pool.
“Now that people are able to see it up close, they are reporting pure VANDALISM at The Reflecting Pool. Thank you, Andrew Leyden for your observation!” Trump stated. “The material was cut right where the videotape showed, for 300 feet or more. People were on their knees with their hands in the water at the exact location of the ‘slashes.’ Additionally, there were witnesses to the VANDALISM, and the flexible areas of the material were cut with a knife.”
Trump called on Pirro to revisit the charges against Hearn and blasted Hearn for hiring Norm Eisen, who helped mastermind the lawfare against Trump in his first term.
“U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro should re-visit her hastily made decision, especially since it turned out that the “gentleman” involved is a big player in ActBlue, a disgraceful fundraising SCAM, and is represented by a TRUMP DERANGED SLEAZEBAG, Political Hack Lawyer, Norm Eisen, and CREW, a group that uses “charity” for political purposes which is, to the best of my knowledge, ILLEGAL!” Trump added.
“I have been beating Eisen, a complete LUNATIC, in Court for 10 years, or more. He just keeps coming, but I always WIN!” Trump continued.
Will Trump Fire Pirro?
Pirro’s decision to drop the vandalism charges and Trump’s public rebuke of Pirro led to speculation that Trump would fire Pirro.
The questions about Pirro’s job only escalated after Trump told reporters that she “folded like an umbrella” in deciding to drop the charges.
But Trump quickly made it clear that Pirro’s error wasn’t fatal to her career.
“I think she made a terrible decision. That doesn’t mean change,” Trump went on to say.
Pirro appears to be safe in her job for now.
